Description
It’s June and not 100F at Coe! Perfect excuse for a good hard ride with the Salsa aka the Red Rocket (or should I say the Red Hottie?).
At the parking lot it was nice to see the familiar faces of Roy, Charlie and others, including Tom who went for a hike with a group of friends. As I hoped, I bumped later into both Charlie and Roy on the trail, as well as another Coe enthusiast, Ted, lots of hikers and a mtbr group ride led by Chuck.
I must have had issues with the GPS signal because there is some goofiness in the track near China Hole and also Los Cruzeros (both deep narrow canyons) – and the totals are not correct. I did ~40 miles, not 48. My average speed was thus about 6.5 mph with breaks and 8.2 mph moving. A good test because the 100miler I have in mind (Cascade Creampuff) is pretty tough – if I can keep a sustained speed >8mph in Coe I should be able to knock that one off pretty nicely… of course I’d have to cut the breaks and ride for a much longer time…
