Description
Hike to the highest point in the contiguous US, the summit of Mount Whitney. We left the Whitney trailhead near Lone Pine at the crack of dawn and arrived at the summit around 1.20pm. Once past the switchbacks, the views get pretty amazing. We still had a looong descent ahead of us though. We did it as a day hike; a lot of people choose to camp and split it up in two days – either way, you’ll need a permit if you do it in the summertime.
