Description

This tracklog records one skier’s trip around the circuit of the 5th annual Nipika Loppet at the Nipika Mountain Resort. The course was billed as being 18 km long, but the tracklog shows it being just under 20 km.

The Nipika resort is about a 2.5 hour drive from Calgary, and well worth the trip due to the machine-groomed double tracks with space between them for skating, the interesting terrain and the spectacular scenery, such as the Cross River Chasm – 5m wide and 50m deep! (see the picture).

In the summer, the 50km of nordic trails become mountain-bike trails, providing lots of terrain to roam over.
