Description

This one has been on my list for a while. I got Tom and Matt together and we made it happen. What a great hike! It starts with excellent views at over 10400 feet in Cedar Breaks. The trail winds down through evergreen and aspen forests (it would be awesome in the fall). Finally you end up in a deep gorge. We saw some amazing geology carved by the stream that drains Cedar Breaks. We climbed over waterfalls and through narrow canyons. We saw old ruins. We ate wild raspberries. This hike has a little of everything. Highly recommended.

Here is a video of some of the action.

Note: The elevation profile might be a little off. A storm blew over as we were starting, so even though we were descending my altimeter thought we were ascending. Also, the track through the gorge is a little inexact. The Vista Cx performed better than I expected, but it still struggled a bit when there wasn’t much sky overhead. So the distance above is a little short. Finally, the Moving and Stopped times and Average speeds shown above are clearly wrong. Maybe because this hike spanned 2 days…? I dunno.
