This is a great ride, the start is a climb up forestry road all of which can be driven if desired, it is a 1000m climb and we decided to drive half of it. The top of the climb is at the 2500m Col de Furfande After the climb is some fantastic singletrack descending down a fairly wide and fast path round the hillside and dropping down to the pastures at Furfande where there are loads of small chalets on the hillside all of which can only be approached on foot. From the meadow there is a traverse towards the Col Garnier that finishes in a killer steep climb. From the top of this col the views are fantastic and there is a huge amount of singletrack just waiting below. The descent starts off fast and sweeping through grassy hillside and then traverses some steep shale gullies where a fall would not be advisable. At this point we met a group of mule trekkers heading in the opposite direction and were suitably impressed by the mule’s ability to walk this path. More great singletrack through a few technical sections and then down some steep switchbacks to a torrent that needed crossing. There was a sneaky climb after this torrent and a short descent on fire road before dropping into the final descent which was 600m of technical singletrack straight back to the car waiting at the bottom.
