Description
A fun and easy to easy/moderate ride with Mike – he’s trying to get back into shape and I wanted to go easy since I plan on doing the Swanton Time Trial tomorrow. Very warm, but otherwise beautiful! We did a very easy climb up Mtn Charlie – our time was about 31 minutes. My heartrate only averaged 115 bpm for the entire ride and I was mostly in zones 2 and 3, so this was not a very tough effort, by any means. Mike was struggling a lot for the last 20 miles – his legs were simply fried – he has not put in the longer miles like me, nor has he put in the harder efforts on shorter rides, like when I do the Noon Goon rides during the week. My conditioning is actually quite good, but I believe I have dropped off a bit since my excellent time trial effort on Canada Road last May 26. I’ll probably do okay on the Swanton Road time trial tomorrow (assuming I show up, that is!) – I’m going to shoot for 33 minutes, which is 20 mph, but will probably end up in the 34 to 35 minute range – this would still be okay, since I would then have something I can try to beat for the last few time trials this year.
