Description
A fun ride along Skyline Boulevard that starts at the Saratoga Gap parking lot and more or less follows the Bay Area Ridge trail up to Russian Ridge, descends into Montebello via the exhilarating White Oak Trail and returns the same way.
Open Space Preserves visited along the way include:- Saratoga Gap
- Long Ridge
- Skyline Ridge
- The parking lot of Russian Ridge and
- Montebello
The majority of ride goes via rolling single track, with a few fire road climbs/descents thrown in for variation and a short stretch of paved road.

Next time we should do this route and also peak bag both Borel Hill and Black Mountain, and return via Stevens Canyon and Charcoal (urgh) – then we can call it the Southern Skyline Epic…
