Description
A very nice group ride at a very mellow pace – Ed and I hung out with Chimene and Sheila, who are both trying to get in some long rides with lots of climbing to prepare for the Death Ride next month. Warren didn’t really hang out with us – we lost him at Saratoga Gap – not sure if he just went ahead or what – strange! The conversation was nice and the weather perfect – Ed and I decided to roll back into Scotts Valley after getting back up to Summit at the end of the Zayante climb – Chimene and Sheila went on to finish the original route that I had scoped out – 100 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing – they went down Bayview Dr off of Summit to get to Redwood Estates, then rolled over to Holy City at Old Santa Cruz Hwy, then went back up to Summit, over to Old San Jose Rd, down to Soquel, up Rodeo Gulch to Mtn View, then down Branciforte to Granite Creek and back up to Scotts Valley – what a couple of studs! They’ll have no problem doing the Death Ride next month. Ed and I still had a good day, though – more than 75 miles and about 8,000 feet of climbing – but just at a fairly mellow pace – still a very good day – we kept properly hydrated and fueled during the entire ride – fun day!
