Description
This was the proposition…

and below the outcome… (see also mtbr thread)
Bright was the night, warm the ground, or so was the thinking at least behind the plan to ride through a summer night under full moon in Coe. It was a little chillier than anticipated, in particular during the wee morning hours as the ridges were drowning in fog and big oak trees created their own micro-rain systems.
Riding to the moon…
SecretSquirrel was sporting a pretty geeky outfit, with a brand new hd helmetcam. He was stalking owls and skunks throughout the night to make the footage compelling. Pepe the Skunk (we were stuck behind it for almost half of the China Hole descent, so we had ample time to find a name for it) in particular was starring.
Down near the dark and frigid waters of China Hole.
Climbing China Hole West without lights under a creepy moon casting shadows through oak and Manzanita branches was definitely a ‘highlight’.
Another great descent down Middle Ridge – fast and thrilling.
The moon was still out when dawn broke, as was a thick blanket of fog hiding the feeble attempts of the sun to break through.
Serpentine was climbed and cleaned, in order to launch down Middle Steer Ridge, which was a tad colder and wetter than usual.
TahoeBC and SecretSquirrel reminiscing the great time they had with a raging bull, on the exact spot of the incident.
Thanks Jeff and Paul, another good one for the books!
P.S. Garmin altitude signal got messed up near the end… the fog?
