Description

The opportunity to explore the Brochs in Gleann Beag adds an unusual dimension to the first part of this route, and the road is quiet enough to make that part a suitable out-and-back for youngsters.

Once off the tarmac, the track is easily rideable from the end of Gleann Beag as far as Suardalan, which is just beyond the highest point on the route. North of Suardalan the track deteriorates to little more than a boggy and tussocky sheep track. It continues like that into Glen More, where we gave up trying to follow the “path” (as marked on the OS map) and instead forded Glenmore River to regain the tarmac road.
