Description
I was met by drizzling rain and temperatures in the 40’s this Saturday morning but the forecast was firm: it was going to be another beautiful sunny fall day so I headed up to Coe with a vague plan involving Alquist and Dutch’s. At the parking lot I ran into Charlie though and I decided to join him to Pacheco Creek trail, an area I hadn’t been to. I love these on the spot improvized Coe rides!
We brushed up some of the snagging trees and shrubs while we were at it and I agreed with Charlie Pacheco Creek trail is a perfect means to stage real big rides – it’s a fairly level trail that allows quick access to Mississippi Lake and the farther depths of Coe. Not on this very short day though, as we were battling sunset to get back to Hunting Hollow. And breaking my chain (thanks Charlie for the quick link and the tool) and a couple of flats didn’t help us. It didn’t stop me from adding Serpentine and descending the entire length of Lyman-Wilson – the upper part of which I hadn’t been on so this was another first.
Trail beta
Big tree down on Pacheco Creek trail (see pic) – we couldn’t remove it with our small tools:
- Lat 37.1742, Long -121.4405
A bit further there’s a ditch which is somewhat tricky, intersecting the trail and about two feet wide, three deep. Will probably fill up naturally with sediment but with some flat logs one could bridge it and make an interesting feature of it…
